Porsche Sports Car
The new Porsche 718 Boxster, available at Napleton Westmont Porsche, just may be the most popular two-seat sports car in the world today. Celebrated for its performance and handling, as well as its heritage, it's a vehicle that continually proves the company walks the walk when they say, Porsche: There is no substitute.
The Boxster gets its name from a mashup of its Boxer flat cylinder engine (Box) and the fact it's a Roadster ('ster). Let's find out what makes the 718 Boxster so desirable.
Porsche 718 Boxster Engine
Now into its fourth-generation, the Porsche 718 Boxster was introduced in 1996. It is a mid-engined two-seat sports roadster powered by a choice of a couple different engines. Start with a 2.0-liter turbo flat-four producing 300 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of torque for the 718 Boxster base. If that's not enough, step up to the turbocharged 2.5-liter flat-four engine making 350 horsepower and 309 lb-ft of torque. It resides in the more robust 718 Boxster S.
Porsche steps it up from there, with a pair of six-cylinder Boxer engines. They are both naturally-aspirated and include a 4.0-liter 6-cylinder engine that makes 394 horsepower and 309 lb-ft of torque in the 718 Boxster GTS 4.0 and a 4.0-liter 6-cylinder engine making 493 horsepower and 331 lb-ft of torque, as seen in the Porsche 718 Spyder RS.
Porsche's stellar PDK double-clutch automatic transmission is an available option that shifts gears faster than otherwise humanly possible. For those who like to "row it themselves," the Boxsters still offer a standard six-speed manual transmission.
How Does The New Porsche 718 Boxster Look?
From a distance, the Porsche Boxster sports an elegant profile that doesn't go crazy with wings or other such boy-racer accoutrements. Instead, what we have is a finely-sculpted tub that is a case of form following function. In other words, if there is a side scoop or a wide, below-bumper intake, it is there for a reason. Air intakes are prominently fashioned into the Boxster body to cool the turbocharged or larger, naturally-aspirated engines.
The large majority of body parts on the Porsche Boxster are made of aluminum for minimal weight that combines strength overall. Featuring a perfectly-balanced long nose and short tail, the Porsche Boxster is constructed to ride on tires ranging from 18- to 20-inches. Suspensions vary according to which model you select.
The new Porsche 718 Spyder features a modified look with a new front-bumper design as well as a small vent on the hood's leading edge. The roof features a different shape, with streamliners behind each headrest. The appearance is pure Porsche performance.
What About The 718 Boxster Interior?
The Porsche 718 Boxster features a sophisticated, performance-oriented interior with form-fitting seats that keep occupants in place while performing serious negotiations with a winding road. The traditional five-gauge array displays instruments for the driver while the bucket seats, available in various styles and colors, are there to provide lasting comfort for track day or cross-country traverses alike. While you wouldn't use your Boxster as a moving van, it still manages to eke out 5.3 cubic feet of storage area in the "frunk" (front trunk) or 4.4 cubic feet in the rear storage bin.
Other features include a standard six-speaker audio system, while a 12-speaker/821-watt Burmester surround-sound audio system fills the cabin with just a little more excitement. Apple CarPlay is an available option for the Boxster.

Custom leather seat covers, carbon trim accents, and interior color choices are part of the scheme and can help truly make the Porsche Boxster your own.
Safety
There are eight airbags on board, along with electronic stability controls and other safety assists like lane departure warning and more. The 718 Boxster includes an air compressor and tire-sealing compound instead of a spare tire. Additionally, complimentary roadside assistance runs concurrently with the four-year/50,000-mile warranty.

The car features a stylized version of the name Caiman, a member of the alligator family. As an aside, Porsche sued the Crocs company, maker of the popular rubber shoes, after they tried to name a version of their shoes Cayman as well. Porsche was granted an injunction preventing Crocs from using the name for shoes sold in Germany.
A choice of four different engines now powers it; a pair of flat four-cylinder engines, including a 2.0-liter turbo flat-four producing 300 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of torque for the 718 Cayman and Cayman T and a turbocharged 2.5-liter flat-four engine making 350 horsepower and 309 lb-ft of torque for the more robust 718 Cayman S.
